6 Month Milestones

Babies develop on different timelines. Development happens on a continuum, so some babies will develop some skills earlier and some a little later. Here are some of the skills that are likely to emerge 6 months old.

6 Month Old Milestones

  • sits without support

  • brings things to mouth, uses raking grasp

  • may get distressed if caregiver leaves

  • rolls from back to tummy (both directions)

  • fewer feedings, starts solids, feeds longer before night sleep, waking to nurse more often at night

  • may be able to sleep 6-8 hours at a time, 90% sleep through the night
