Signs your newborn is hungry (2023)
Many moms wonder when to feed their babies. There is so much misinformation out there about putting babies on a schedule being optimal. The best approach for a baby that is gaining well is to watch for signs of hunger. Feeding on demand is optimal and can help you build a robust supply. Nursing on a schedule can lead to low milk supply.
It's always better to feed while you are noticing early feeding cues. When a baby is showing late stage feeding cues, it takes extra time to calm them down, which further delays the feed. Remember that it’s always best to watch the baby not the clock and feed on demand.
